Sylvia Aruffo is fluent in Spanish, has a doctorate in linguistics, a bilingual teaching certificate, and worked in Latin America for 12 years. She wrote the Language Learning Manualfor the US Peace Corps and conducted cross-cultural training for General Motors, Pepsi-Cola, Dow Chemical, Baxter International and other Fortune 500 firms.
Dr. Aruffo attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has written, designed and illustrated textbooks, including a boxed set of teaching aids for C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia (David C. Cook). She is a signature member and on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Watercolor Society, with national honors, including Second Prize, Watercolor West 2018 and inclusion in the annual international compendium, Colored Pencil Masterworks Volume 5, 2017.
As CEO of her own healthcare communications company, she has created children’s works such as The Asthma Coloring Book (Washington, DC Asthma Coalition), I Can’t Hear You, a workbook for Hispanics with diabetes (Montefiore Medical Center), and a website, Understanding ADHD (Shire Pharmaceuticals).
